Looking at my favourites will immediately show where the main inspiration came from in this case.
However I added more wheels, more complex technological arrangements etc etc to make this work better than the one in my favs.
Largely inspired by various new car-based technology [I was watching TopGear on the new Mercedes S Class at the time] the locomotive is sleek, streamlined and above all, safe!
The panel covering the safety valves opens when the locomotive is stationary, or when the valves begin to lift themselves. Similar hatches in the tender for coal and water are operated via the cab. No shoveling is required as the locomotive is automatically fired.
